Regina Hona
Born in Melbourne, Regina began her working career as a Private Secretary but eventually her love of painting took over and she turned to painting professionally in 2001. Regina trained in the classical tonal method in oils and has experimented with charcoal, watercolour and acrylic but now predominately paints in the soft pastel and oil mediums.
Regina decided to specialise in subjects relating to the human form and water, which gives her continuous scope for inspiration and exploration, often combining the two. She likes to enter national competitions such as The Archibald and Doug Moran Prizes, etc. having twice hung in the Victorian Salon De Refuse and been a finalist on two occasions in the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize. She is also kept busy tutoring frequent workshops Australia wide and more recently overseas painting tours. She has been Curator for The Friend’s Gallery of Very Special Kids charity and a past President of The Pastel Society of Victoria Inc. and also a Councillor with The Australian Guild of Realist Artists’ of which she has also been awarded a Fellowship in 2008. Her work and articles have featured several times in the Australian Artist, Pastel International and International Artist magazines.
