When
Lyn paints she is consciously reliving the experience and
gives emphasis to that which was most memorable for her.
Lyn grew up near Sydney’s Cronulla
beach and you can often find coastal influence in her work.
She had previously
taught ballet (A.R.A.D.), primary school, and was a consultant
art educator until her own artwork evolved becoming a full
time occupation in 1981.
Her paintings have attracted many awards and are exhibited
in selected galleries in Victoria and N.S.W. Five paintings
have been acquired for government city collections in Sutherland,
Cambelltown, Frankston and sister cities, Susomo and Nagoya.
Lyn is featured
in three art reference books and art journals including,
Pastel
Artist
International’s
Master Artists of the World - Australian Showcase 2002
and Australian
Palette 2005. Four paintings are in print and there is
a limited edition series of Sydney drawings.
Lyn Mellady was President of The Australian Guild of
Realist Artists in 2000-2001,
and is an active member of Brushmen of the Bay and fusi6n (fusion
six)
Lyn works in both oil and pastel. Both mediums give her
the quality and conservational quality she considers important.
She favors the pastel medium and has demonstrated her techniques
to many hundreds of artists in Victoria and NSW
Lyn has been
made a Fellow of The Australian Guild of Realist Artists
in recognition
of the quality of her paintings and she
is often called to
open or judge art shows. Yet painting remains her first priority.
