Helen
began painting in 1992 following a long Primary/Special
Schools
teaching career and a lifelong
love of drawing and
painting. Painted with great joy and passion Helen’s
works in oil and pastel reflect her pride in her Australian
art heritage and are fine examples of contemporary Impressionism.
Most particularly inspired by the beautiful effects of light
Helen is drawn to many subjects including land, river and
seascapes but it is figurative work and portraiture which
is her special interest.
The recipient
of over 100 awards and commendations including 62 first
prizes Helen has held
14 solo and participated in
numerous group exhibitions since 1992. As Ex Vice President
and Exhibitions Co-ordinator of The Australian Guild of Realist
Artists (AGRA) teacher, art show judge, demonstrator and
mentor Helen enjoys ongoing contact with her professional
peers. Other memberships include Fusion Six, Portrait Artists
Australia, The Victorian Artists’ Society, The Pastel
Society of Victoria (PSV Ex Committee) and The National Association
